My next event is the Ironhorse Endurance Run (50 miler) in Florida in February. It will be my first ultra marathon, which I'm using as a qualifier for the Vermont 100 in July. I'm keeping track of everything (training, etc.) on my blog, and I'm looking for sponsors for each mile for the 100 to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society if anyone's interested! My blog is http://www.mattruns4funds.com.
"Running with the Band in Beulah Land," Saturday, November 7 in Valley, AL. A 10.5K, followed by a 5K, followed by a 1 mile run. All of which sounds SO much more fun than a single 10.6 mile run!
I have two events between now and Thanksgiving: this Saturday (11/21/09) is the Iron Bowl Run 5K. For those of you don't follow SEC college football, the Iron Bowl is the premiere in-state college football rivalry - University of Alabama Crimsom Tide and Auburn University War Eagles.
The 2nd is a 'turkey trot' - a Thanksgiving Day (11/26/09) race - Sam Lapidus Montclair Run 10K. The Sam Lapidus Montclair Run honors the life of Sam Lapidus. Sam grew up at the Levite Jewish Community Center and quite a regular until cancer - Ewing’s sarcoma - ended his life too soon in November 2008, just a few days before his fifteenth birthday.
I'll be running a 5k in Illinois over the holidays. Not sure which one yet, my son will sign me up when his team decides on an event. I'm thinking of using my VFF's in the race.
